What type of video camera do I need to upload video clips to my computer?

October 28, 2009 - 6:14 am 2 Comments

Do I need a digital camcorder or a digital camera with video? I know digital camers use memory cards, is it the same for digital camcorders? Does it matter? Seems like everyone, except me, can upload video clips.

If you don’t need real high quality clips, you can use most newer digital still cameras to get video clips and it is real easy to load them on the computer from the memory card or through the USB cord. They will also already be in a file format that the computer should automatically recognize.

For higher quality video or longer videos you can also use a video camera that uses mini-dvd’s. Then you can take the disk out of the camera and play it on your dvd player or in the dvd drive in your computer without any wires to hook up.

How do I get my camera lens to retract?

October 28, 2009 - 6:14 am 1 Comment

My Canon digital camera’s lens won’t retract. It’s stuck sticking out and no mattter what I do it won’t go back in. I think sand got stuck in it on vacation last week, and I tapped it against my desk and a lot came out, but it’s still stuck. I’m going to a concert tomorrow night of course, and I need my camera to work. Are there any other things I can try?

Sorry, it’s probably toast. Replace it.

When looking at Canon Camera lenses what is the diffence between fd and ef?

October 28, 2009 - 6:14 am 1 Comment

I am new to Digital Slrs and am looking to get a zoom lens..I own a canon rebel eos xt. I have been looking around on ebay and am not sure what would work w/ my camera.

For starters, FD lenses will not work on any EOS cameras.

All EF lenses will work on EOS cameras

EF-S lenses will only work on APS-C sensored DSLR’s …. If you own a EOS 35 mm SLR or a 5D or 1D DSLR, the EF-S lenses will damage the mirror

What SLR camera choice should I ask for ?

October 28, 2009 - 6:14 am 3 Comments

I don”t really have any ideas for what I’m going to ask for for christmas so I am asking for a camera. I’ve always wanted a really good camera, preferably an SLR. I don’t know what model or brand though. I don’t want an extremely complicated camera, but I also do not want one for beginners. I am pretty technologically savvy, but I still want to just be able to pick up my camera and take a picture. I am looking for a reasonable priced camera. Any help?

Nikon is good brand for SLR camera.Try Nikon D90 is a good choice 12.3MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S VR DX Nikkor Zoom Lens with D-Movie Mode; Cinematic 24fps HD with sound

What is your opinion of camera Kodak Easyshare Z-950? Any camera reviews wep?

Hello
I would like to buy a wide range specifications ,high quality ,maual and auto ,compact camera for both (photos and video) . I made a wide search then i found Kodak Easyshare Z-950 has the better choice that i need .I need any ideas about it or any camera reviews web with my regards.

The problem is that it’s made by Kodak, therefore there is an excellent possibility that it will be junk. Kodak makes lots of fantastic claims about their cameras that rarely prove to be true.

What cameras have a feature where you can select only 1 color to be shown?

October 28, 2009 - 6:14 am 1 Comment

What is this feature called? What cameras have this feature and about how much do they cost?

Selective desaturation is done in post processing, and as far as I know can not be done on any camera.
That said, it is a far overused technique (that everyone, including me, is guilty of), so I wouldn’t worry too much about finding a camera that can do it specifically.

If you were still interested in doing it, Adobe Lightroom breaks the color into 8 or 9 different channels, and you can adjust hue saturation and lightness of the channels independently, meaning that you can turn off saturation for all channels except for green, for example. This would make anything not green monotone.
