How to fix Nikon Coolpix L6 digital camera lens?

November 30, 2009 - 1:07 am 2 Comments

My photos look really distorted, like the pixels in certain areas will be bright neon colors. If I fiddle with certain settings it’s not as apparent but it’s still there. I think this has something to do with the lens. Sometimes the camera will accidently turn on in the case but the lens won’t be able to extend all the way because it’s in there. How can I fix this?

Don’t bother fixing it. The cost of labor and the parts will be almost the same price as getting a new one. Getting a new one will also come with a 1 year guarrantee

What is the difference between different kinds of camera lenses? 18-55, 55-200, etc. etc..?

November 30, 2009 - 1:07 am 4 Comments

I’m shopping for a camera, and I have to buy the lens separately (the d50, to be exact). How do I figure out what the different lenses are? I know it has something to do with the distance between mirrors and lens, or something like that, but what is the effect that each kind has on the picture? What does it mean?

Lower numbers mean a wider angle of view and usually more light gathering power. Higher numbers are more telephoto and usually require more light. It is difficult to hand-hold lenses over 200. The normal lens that comes with a 35mm camera is about 55. an 18-55 lens would go from wide angle to normal and a 55-200 would go from normal to telephoto and is much larger and heavier.

which slr camera is better and should i buy?

I went to a cash converters to check out some used slr cameras i could get. There were cannon eo5 650 and 500, and a Pentax mz30. This will be my first ever camera which is the best for someone to practice on ?

Since this is your first ever camera I would go with Canon. As a Canon user I am familiar with the quality of their photos. If you were to buy a new camera I would recommend that you get a Canon XS DSLR.It is a (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera and sales for $549.00 up to $599.00. After you become proficient in using it, you can slowly add different lens to obtain full use of the camera. Most low cost point and shoot cameras do not offer the option of taking pictures in B&W. You would have to convert those color pictures with the software provided with the camera. However, with the Canon you can set it to take B&W pictures. I used a 300mm lens on my Canon and obtained some very awesome pictures of the moon. Picture quality is great and the craters are in great detail. Canon has been my only choice in photography due to the quality of taking pictures with those cameras. The only real filters you should invest in will be (1) UV (ultra violet) filter (primarily to protect the lens. (2) Polarized filter (to take pictures through glass and aquariums (keeps glass from glaring). Check out the link below. I have some photos taken with my Canon XS posted. As you will see Canon has a great product. Good luck.

Canon Rebel XTi, is it a good camera? It seems to be very popular, and I’ve read lots of good reviews.?

November 30, 2009 - 1:07 am 4 Comments

I currently have a film Rebel and would like to finally move to digital. I have read a bad review that mentions that XTi has more noise compared to the XT. Also any comments on what lens to buy would be appreciated.
Also, is there a difference between black or silver body, other thanappearance (like scratches)?

I have the Rebel XT and I love it, it takes great pictures, and you can buy it in a bundel with multiple lenses.
Here is a picture I have taken with it to let you see the quality.

It is a great camera and i love the quality, the only problem is going between lenses.
The 18-55mm is a good one, yet small.
The 75-300mm is also good
As well as the 55-200mm is great
I have worked with these three and love them!

Good luck with your choice, maybe try going to a store and holding both and taking pictures with both, a camera should be a personal choice. Black or silver no real difference, I have the silver but the black is quite nice.
Here is a link to buy cheap Rebel XT’s its only 289, new!

In a digital camera, do you look for higher megapixles or lower?

November 27, 2009 - 7:11 pm 11 Comments

im looking for a camera and i dont want a piece of crap.. im looking at the Kodak Easyshare V570 dual lens Digital Camera .
any good reviews?

Pixels are important, but they are not the only thing that matters.

For instance, the V570 has the pixels, but does not review all that well.

See this page: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=kodak_v570%2Ccanon_sd600&show=all and consider the Canon Powershot SD600. It’s probably still to your tastes, but it is a better camera.

See these reviews:

How is the performance of Vivitar digital cameras. I just wanna buy a digital camera for frequent use.?

November 27, 2009 - 7:11 pm 1 Comment

Will Vivitar digital cameras last a reasonable amount of time.

vivitar was one of the first photo companies to produce digital cameras, it should perform satisfactory.

My camera uses AA batteries rather than a built-in battery pack. i use nickel metalhydride AA batteries that are rechargeable, and have several sets to replace them as they run down. Items which comsume more power are the flash and CRT viewfinder, shutting those off may help get more battery life. You can change batteries and not lose the pictures already taken, they are on a storage card until deleted.

Is a speed camera flash the same as a normal camera flash?

November 27, 2009 - 7:10 pm 2 Comments

I noticed a flash to the drivers side of my car the other day, curious to know would this have been a photo camera or a speed camera? Or do speed cameras only take front or rear photos , and you would see the flash from the front or rear depending on where the photo was taken?(this was during the day) Any ideas?

Well.. hold tight, you should get a ticket in a few days if it is a speed or red-light camera. Traffic enforcement cameras are usually set up to capture the license plate. Now depending on the intersection, it may flash from all four directions and you may have only noticed it from the drivers side. Flashes happen really fast and don’t last long, typically only about 1/50000th of a second. Just because you noticed it from the drivers side, doesn’t mean it didn’t actually happen from the rear.

There are lots of other things it could be though. It’ll be hard to answer without knowing the location. It could have been the sun reflecting off something and being focused on you for that short amount of time. It could have been somebody on the side doing flash photography??? Just hold tight and you’ll find out soon enough if it was a traffic enforcement camera or not.

The flashes used in most traffic enforcement cameras are just a strobe. In layman’s terms, it’s the same as a normal camera flash.

How good is a digital camera with a 3x optical zoom, and 10 megapixels?

November 27, 2009 - 7:10 pm 5 Comments

I wanted to get into digital photography as a hobby, so I decided to buy a cheap basic digital camera to start. However, I’m worried that the camera I got won’t do very well. It has 3x optical zoom, 10.1 megapixels, I’m not sure how to tell how big the sensory is, and it has 4.5x digital zoom, but the digital zoom sort of sucks.
It’s a GE digital camera.

A 10 megapixel camera should more than suffice if you are just starting up.

1 megapixel = 1 million pixels
1 pixel = The smallest dot that can be put on your computer screen

With a 10 megapixel camera, you will have photos big enough to create posters out of it. I would also recommend not using digital zoom in the camera at all since that will distort your photos. Plus you can always do a digital zoom using a photo processing software on your computer.

How do you upload videos from a video camera to your computer?

November 27, 2009 - 7:10 pm 4 Comments

I recorded my video with a tape instead of the memory card. I installed the program that came with the video camera. I plugged the USB cable into the computer, but nothing happened. The computer didn’t detect the USB. I want to edit my video with Windows Movie Maker. Can I do this with a tape?

You can use Windows Movie Maker or other video editing software. Tape or card does not matter. Here’s the process:

. Connect the camcorder to the computer with the USB cable. Turn on the camcorder and put it in playback mode. Rewind to the beginning of your video and then put in Play (Standby) mode.

. Launch Windows Movie Maker and start the Capture Video function. WMM will send a command to the camera to start playing and copying (capturing) the video.

. Complete other steps in your project and save it.

If it does not start, look in My Computer and see if the camcorder shows as a removable drive. If not, you may have to reinstall the software.

Good Luck
