Collapsible SLR Camera Carrier

December 31, 2009 - 1:18 am 1 Comment

The HoldSLR is a patent pending collapsible SLR camera holder. It hangs on your belt, on your back pack chest strap or on the waist strap of you fanny pack. The camera lens hangs down into the boot and the body rests on the coated wire frame holder. It’s secure and safe and the most convenient way to carry your camera you have ever seen – I invented the HoldSLR because I use it. After 10 years of searching for a easy, secure way to carry my cameras when I was out taking pictures I finally gave up on the bags and started building prototypes.

The HoldSLR is the result of hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, riding and running through twelve prototypes. I released the product at the NANPA show in Albuquerque in February and the response has been great. I take nature photos but there are sports, portrait, wedding and recreation photographers using the HoldSLR to make their lives easier and their photography better. If you are tired of the camera straps and the bags then you should try the HoldSLR.

I’m looking for a website that provides video reviews of digital cameras?

December 30, 2009 - 8:44 pm 4 Comments

I used to use a website that as well as standard reviews for digital cameras, it also provided video reviews i.e. people talking and showing the cameras features.
I can no longer find this website…. can anyone help? Thanks

That would probably be:

http://www.whatdigitalcamera.com/

http://www.digitalrev.com/en/index.php – They have videos on YouTube

What are some digital cameras that have a video setting as well?

What are some digital cameras that have a video setting as well?

Here’s a tip,

I’m looking for the camera mentioned above that works with CompactFlash Cards…

Look through the reviews @
http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html
When you click on the buttons (e.g. "4-megapixels", "5-megapixels", etc)….. it gives you a chart of all the cameras with that number of megapixels + other info such as what type of cards & batteries it uses + "Movie max size / length"…. before taking you to the full review by clicking on the appropriate link.

Most of the newer ones seem to mostly use "SD/MMC cards" or XD cards… with a few using "CF2" cards.

The Fuji Finepix S9000 uses both XD + CF2 cards, but has a bit of a scary (500 – 600) price tag.

The Canon Powershot A95 uses CF cards…. but the review was posted August 2004 (so might have been ditched by now…. but never know if you look around). The review’s here:

What is camera direction is used to describe the camera to look over someone’s shoulder?

December 30, 2009 - 8:43 pm 1 Comment

I’m in charge of making my drama group’s script for our short film. And in one scene, I would like to have the camera so it’s looking over someone’s shoulder, down at someone else who is sitting down at a desk. How can I do this? What Camera Direction is it called?

Over the shoulder shot. (OSS or OS, for plain over shoulder.)

Which digital camera should I ask for for Christmas? Which is the best quality for the best price?

December 30, 2009 - 8:43 pm 2 Comments

I want a digital camera for Christmas this year, but I have no idea which one to ask for. I just want a nice, cute, good-quality camera for around $300 or less.
I probably won’t need a very professional one and am not a photographer or anything like that- just using it for fun.
The brand, model and even a web link is appreciated!
Thanks!

I would highly recommend the Canon Powershot a590 IS. It’s only around $150 which is half of your max price. The quality of photos from this camera are on par with others I’ve tried worth 300-400 dollars. I’d consider this a wise investment.

What type of video camera should an amateour buy who wants the film to look VINTAGE.?

December 30, 2009 - 8:43 pm 2 Comments

I need something inexpensive, so a camera that is older is better. Also, if I buy an old-fashioned video camera, how do I transfer that onto a macbook?? I need lots of suggestions.

Most macbooks come with iMovie its a great beginner program and a really good cheap camera is the Flip Mino HD

What is the best and safest way to clean your camera lens?

December 30, 2009 - 8:43 pm 7 Comments

I have a very expensive camera and I am afraid to clean the lens with something that might damage it! HELP!!

First, DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT use alcohol on any part of your camera, especially the lens.

Second, DO NOT use a Q-Tip on a lens.

In 37+ years of enjoying photography I have never used a liquid lens cleaner.

Use a lens cloth made for a camera lens. You can order them on-line or buy one at your local camera shop.

While you’re buying your cloth buy a UV/Haze filter to protect the front element of your lens.
