does camera lenses make the image quality better?

December 30, 2009 - 8:43 pm 4 Comments

well i saw this video in youtube and the video quality of it was just amazing. and the guy said he just used a Nikon D90 to shoot it along with 17-50mm lenses. does lenses make image quality better?
i’m a camera noob so i don’t know much.

Since you do take the picture through the lens, yes. A lens is the ONLY thing between the subject and the film or sensor…YES, it does.
Most photog’s will avoid cheap lenses, as they can screw up the image in many ways.

Careful focusing, exposure, and composition will make or break an image too.

Are any digital slr cameras for ex Nikon D90 a 35-mm camera with f-stop and shutter controls?

December 30, 2009 - 8:43 pm 4 Comments

So I’m planning on taking photography in my school in spring of next year and they require a 35-mm camera with f-stop and shutter controls.
Does a Nikon D90 or Nikon D5000 have that? Orr any sort of digital slr camera?

Please help, I’m planning to make a purchase soon.
Thanks.

No digital camera will work for your class. You need to get a 35mm film SLR camera, like a Pentax K1000. There are several more makes and models that will work.

Here are some:

How long are Polaroid cameras still going to be available in the future?

December 30, 2009 - 8:43 pm 4 Comments

I’ve heard they’re shutting down film production… I’m assuming that means cameras won’t be sold either. Is that correct? If so, when does it all end?

Polaroid has exited the instant film market. Both cameras and film are no longer being produced. You can still buy both until supplies run out, then the film will become very expensive on ebay and the cameras will become very cheap. People are already starting to horde the film, but they won’t be able to keep it for long because it can’t be stored like regular film. It stops working completely within a couple of years depending on the temperature at which it was stored.

The good news! Japanese school girls are still very interested in instant photography and so is Fuji Film. Fuji makes a couple of very interesting instant cameras under the Instax brand with better features than many of the Polaroids. The cost is about the same and they show no signs of getting out of the instant business any time soon.

Digital Camera?

December 28, 2009 - 6:59 am 3 Comments

HI!
I am getting a digital camera but nothing too fancy! It’s for pics with friends, special occasions, or just fun family pics! I am thinking of getting this: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=7694082 I read over 55-100 reviews of this camera and there are some problems people keep saying are:
1. Shutter Lag (i figured out how to make it better)
2. After some months it BREAKS!!!!!!! (People said when their battery is dying in the middle of something it the camera shuts off and the lens gets stuck and it breaks!!) How can I stop this from happening to me?
3. It eats up the battery quickly!

So….. I was wondering if this would be better for me and my budget ($100! not going over 100)
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5716983
I looked to see if it was near where I live and it isn’t!!!!!

i also said i wasnt going to go over my budget but…i did anyways and bought a reallyyy good camera, its a sony cybershot! i reallyy love it! it was like $150 at the timee (i got a good deal) but usually cameras under $100 arnt veryy good. i had one under $100 and it of course couldnt keep a charge and the pictures turned out terrribbleee! but i would reallyyyy recomend going to amazon.com. there are so many cameras and they all have a bunch of reviews.here heres a link to one you might likee.

even thought it 2 not good reviews, i have a friend who has one and it works greatt! hope it helpps (:

How do make a camera travel around a circle in 3ds Max?

December 28, 2009 - 6:59 am 1 Comment

I have a model of a guitar and I’m trying to set up the animation for the camera to travel around in a circle to show off 360 degree viewing. I’m using a path constraint with the camera to a circle to get the 360 but every time I move the camera around the circle weird effects happen. Camera moves in opposite directions, jumps around the circle, or moves to new starting positions. Any advice or tutorials?

First – don’t use path constraint on the camera directly.
Instead – use it on a dummy, and link the camera to the dummy.
This way you can still move the camera around the dummy.
Secondly – there are 2 common causes for your problem –
1. The camera is moving a lot faster than you think it is. check the path constraint and verify the starting and ending frame.
2. the camera is aligned (or almost aligned) to the Z direction. if that is the case your only solution is to rotate the whole scene.

What digital camera is the easiest to use and understand for a beginner?

December 28, 2009 - 6:58 am 6 Comments

I want to get my wife a digital camera but she and I neither know nothing about them or how to use them. Does anyone recommend which model or specific camera is the absolute easiest to operate and is user friendly. I’d like to spend less than $100 since we really will not use it too much. Thanks for your help!!!

Hi there!

I guess you are looking for point and shoot digital camera. This camera has default so it is not manually operated. You only have to learn 3 buttons (open, shoot, browse)

These type of camera are often cheap by now, you can look for cannon brand – that’s personal opinion. I have never tried other brands though.

If you are looking for really cheap deals, then know the game in Amazon. The ones being sold there are often from third party site vendors, if you want good deals, go straight from amazon.

I learned the game through http://www.gograbber.com/. there is a video where you can learn how to get deals straight from amazon :)

I post my desired product and the site pointed me to real amazon stocks :) The price is way too cheap.

I hope you like it :)

Is the personal video camera perspective in movies a copyright?

December 28, 2009 - 6:58 am 3 Comments

Some movies like Cloverfield and Quarantine were filmed on a video camera that people would tape like family home movies on. Is that a copyright? Or can any movie/filmmaker do that?

Prior to those, they used hand-held cameras in "Saving Private Ryan," "Blair Witch Project," and even on "NYPD Blue" on TV.

Anyone can use the technique. If someone says "Hey, that’s a rip-off of "Cloverfield," say "No, it’s an homage to ‘Cloverfield!"

What does this mean when buying a camera lens?

December 28, 2009 - 6:58 am 3 Comments

When you are looking to buy a camera lense for a DSLR and it is speaking about how the lens is, say, 17mm-85mm, what is that saying about the lens? I am unsure and would really like to know. Also, if you could refer me to any good lenses for the canon rebel xs that would be lovely :)

Those numbers refer to the focal length and zoom range of your lens. The lower number provides a wider angle of view then roughly when zoomed to about 35mm you are in the area called the normal angle of view, similar to how the eye sees. Then higher than that you are starting to move into the telephoto range bringing things closer to your viewpoint than how the eye sees it.

In regards to other lenses, much of that will depend on what it is you are trying to do with your photography. I am going to assume that your Canon Rebel XS can with a 18-55mm lens, and if that is so then a good possibility is that a telephoto zoom lens would work well. There are zoom that go to 200mm and 300mm, if you want things far away to be as close as possible then the 300mm will get you a closer view then the 200mm.

Below are some link that could be of help. The first, photo.net, is an online community of photographers where you can do some research and gain some more information. Then I listed links for Tamron, Sigma, and Tokina who are independent lens makers that make lens that mount and work on many of the brand name cameras, including Canon. I have owned lenses through the years made by all 3 and the lenses worked very well for me. The last link is to a dealer, I did a search for telephoto zooms that work on Canon so you can see some options and prices.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.
