Best Buy is selling this camera, and their own website has positive reviews. But I can’t seem to find any substantial review of the camera anywhere else online. (I have a very nice Panasonic Lumix and am looking for an additional inexpensive ‘pocket camera’ to carry around.)

Hey, I’m looking to buy a camera that’s a little more high-tech than your average compact, but I have only around £200 to spend – meaning SLRs and DLSRs are most probably out.
I’ve been looking at the Fujifilm FinePix S2800HD, and similar Fujifilm ones, but some reviews say that the picture quality isn’t that good on them.
I’m an art student so looking for a good picture quality, as well as a good zoom so thought this might be the way to go.
Any comments/reviews/ideas are very welcome, thanks!

I am using a canon IXUS 300 HS IS (also known as Canon IXY30S), which has 10.0 MP. It has only 3.8x Zoom, but takes excellent pictures.
you can also look into the canon IXUS 1000HS IS, which is a newer model, featuring 10x optical zoom.

also as mentioned above being an art student you will not be satisfied with a compact camera.
but canon IXUS range is a great way to start.

Also is it ok for dry skin?

Yes is great on dry skin is hydrating non cakey it looks smooth it can
look greasy on oily skin but dry skin it look polish very good.

I have read this a lot of times in camera reviews that "it is a good low light camera " . what exactly makes a camera good for low light shooting ?

-Low noise with high ISO
-More about the lens, and how "fast" they are. A good low light lens will have a low f-stop. And having Vibration Reduction or Image Stabilization helps a lot too.

The Nikon D90 is one of the highest rated camera’s for low light

Did you do a search on the PopPhoto website for the model of camera you wanted with the word "review" after it?

If you tried that with no luck, & you specifically want a PopPhoto (vs. other source) review from that timeframe, I suggest you e-mail their Customer Svc. people and ask if there’s an accessible "archive" of their camera reviews from the period you’ve noted. I love the zoom camera but don’t really want a big DSLR camera, something a little smaller. Wondering on which is better Sony Cyber shot DSC HX5V or Canon Powershot SX210.

In general,

Canon cameras have excellent image quality and are aimed at taking great quality photos.

Sony cameras are meant to be easy to use for consumers with special feature that only exist in their models.

In general, I like Canon better.
