What is the best camera nowadays and which one would you recommend?

I dropped my camera and the damaged has been done, so I need to buy a new digital camera. I had a "canon sd 700 is", but i want to know if there are good brands out there that have better picture and sound qualities, weighs lighter, long battery life, and reasonable price. The camera I had cost me around 500 bucks before, but for now it is reduced to 300 bucks. I am looking for red-eye-reduction. What is the best camera nowadays and which one would you recommend?

I would recommend Panasonic ZS3 for your budget. It come with good 12x zoom and Panasonic use high quality Leica lens.

    I would look at Olympus or Pentax. They are not as popular as Nikon or Canon, but that’s why I like them. Olympus has excellent customer service and quality cameras. Olympus and Pentax both make camera models that are shockproof, waterproof, dustproof, and even Olympus has a few that are crush proof (Stylus Tough). I would suggest going to dpreview.com (it seems like every photographer’s favorite site one here) and look at those two brands. A lot of the cameras have in depth reviews. Personally as I stated I like Olympus for the quality, customer service, as well as reputation. Hope this helps.

    P.S. this is assuming you are looking at regular cameras and DSLRS

    It is a great zoom camera which take great image quality and also take HD video.
