Flying with the fastest birds on the planet: Peregrine Falcon & Gos Hawk – Animal Camera – BBC
November 2, 2009 - 4:30 am
Tiny spy cameras allow you to see some of the world’s most magnificent birds in flight. Watch this video to learn how the fastest bird on the planet, the peregrine falcon, keeps control at mind-numbing speeds, and take a flight with the master of manoeuvrability, the Gos Hawk, as it flies through dense woodland. Great animal video from BBC wildlife show Animal Camera.

Videos like this …
Videos like this make me laugh. We humans think we have mastered the world, know nature, have mastered and can control our world. Yet animals like these can show us up and erase what we’ve done and what we think we can do in mere seconds. Awesome. Nature can be cruel – but also awe-inspiring, too.

Not pictured: their prey. Creatures usually reach an amazing level like this because of a feedback loop of selective pressures with other creatures, or a hard environment. Watch videos of starling flocks and you’ll understand. =O
