What is the best camera nowadays and which one would you recommend?

February 15, 2010 - 8:09 pm 4 Comments

I dropped my camera and the damaged has been done, so I need to buy a new digital camera. I had a "canon sd 700 is", but i want to know if there are good brands out there that have better picture and sound qualities, weighs lighter, long battery life, and reasonable price. The camera I had cost me around 500 bucks before, but for now it is reduced to 300 bucks. I am looking for red-eye-reduction. What is the best camera nowadays and which one would you recommend?

I would recommend Panasonic ZS3 for your budget. It come with good 12x zoom and Panasonic use high quality Leica lens.

What is a good camera to buy if want really clear pics and good zoom?

February 13, 2010 - 11:26 pm 3 Comments

I went to a Taylor Swift concert and I took pictures with my camera, which is just a plane simple digital camera, and they didn’t turn out that great. I want a really nice camera but not too expensive and I want to take really clear pictures. I don’t know that much about cameras so can someone help me please and thankyou. A link would be cool too.

Well if your want to just get a digitcal compact camera i would suggest panasonic lumix dmc sz3 which is around $290 on amazon. It has a 12X optical zoom which is good for a smaller camera. I take it to concerts all the time and get pretty good shots.

What odd camera have you used to great effect?

February 11, 2010 - 8:55 am 5 Comments

I know there is pinhole cameras, and Lomo camera. My boss bought a cheap Vivitar key chain camera, it uses a AAA battery and turns out odd but pretty pictures that remind me of old polaroids. What have you used that has been surprisingly good?

Same here–not a camera, but a lens. I have Nikkor 35 mm f 2.8 PC. It’s a "shift" lens. I was able to take photos of buildings where they would normally appear like they were tilting back with this.

Am thinking about getting the 24 mm one for my Canon. I hardly think I will use it often to justify it though.

Recently bought Canon 135 mm f 2. It’s very sharp–but when used at wide open, the depth of field is paper thin. Click on "all sizes" to see larger one. http://www.flickr.com/photos/little_pooky/2559096530/

What camera and laptop to bring to Iraq?

February 9, 2010 - 5:35 am 3 Comments

My husband is going to Iraq this year. I want to get him a camera and a laptop as a gift to use over there. What are some good comps and cameras that will survive over there. For a camera he’ll need someone small that can just go in his pocket or in a case on his belt. For a computer, needs something he can game on and something that has a webcam built in, good graphics all the goods really. Any advice helps.

What is the best camera to take detailed pictures of clothing?

January 23, 2010 - 10:56 pm 4 Comments

I need a camera to take pictures of clothing for my website. I need a really good camera that will show small detail and will take clear life like pictures of the clothes. I do not know where to start, i have read reviews but dont know what all the jargon means as i know nothing about cameras. I have a £500 budget. i was looking at canon SLR cameras? Any advice appreciated.

It’s actually almost 100% down to the lighting and the model. If you use the right lighting and have a good model you can make bad clothes look good.

Find a place where you can hang a large white sheet up and has a large south facing window and you’re more than halfway there. Then get yourself a simple SLR, something like a 400D is more than enough and a 50mm f1.8 lens, you may also need a 30mm f2 lens and learn how to use the camera in Av and M modes. You should shoot around f2.8 to get the right depth of field, you also will need to shoot during the day.

What camera company recently advertised a new camera with "moving pictures"?

January 21, 2010 - 4:29 pm 2 Comments

Withint he past couple months, a camera company had a commercial where they were talking about being the first company to create a camera with moving pictures. The comercial started with the child in the car with the wind blowing his hair and ended with a football player catching a football. Does anyone know what the camera or the company I’m talking about?

It’s the new Canon line that has HD movies. They show these commercials a lot during football games. Several models have HD movie mode now. Including their highest end Powershots and many DSLR’s. The uniqueness comes with the DSLR’s though because of the effects and "Looks" that are unique to DSLR’s.

Nikon also has DSLR’s with HD movie mode.

This is a great example of what can be done. This video has that great SLR look in a video.

That being said it does put a lot of mileage on your camera’s sensor. Also one of the big limitations that I’ve found with DSLR movie modes is not one that I’ve looked at which covers almost every Canon and Nikon that has HD movie is that the auto focus cannot be employed. So basically your stuck constantly adjusting the focus ring.

What is the best camera out there for me to buy with the description provided?

January 16, 2010 - 12:18 pm 1 Comment

i want a camera that can take great action shots (for example sports and dancing) and sharp pictures. i also want a camera that has a zoom feature where you can still take beautiful scenery pictures but be far away. i currently have a Panasonic DMC-TZ3 and it takes decent pictures for a pocket camera but i want a nice professional camera to work with. thanks for helping.

Check out the Canon G9 if u need a digital compact camera it gives u manual features and it has a 6X optical zoom and it is really good with picture noise .. if you have more money to spare i would recommend a decent SLR .. Nikon D90 is the one i would really recommend but the price different is a bit too much so it depends on your budget !!

What kind of vintage film camera should I buy?

January 6, 2010 - 3:38 pm 7 Comments

Vintage film cameras have recently peaked my interest. I bought a Polaroid OneStep Land Camera, but have come to find that one cannot buy film for such a camera. What other vintage film cameras should I look for that are fairly old, but still "alive" in the photography industry. In other words, I’d like an old camera for which I can buy film.

Yashica D TLR – TLRs are fun, with their waist level view screens, and the quality of a well made one is stunning (the yashica D’s lens is sharp, put in some nice film, and go to town)

Or a Minolta Autocord, both fantastic TLRs and about $100-$150

What is camera direction is used to describe the camera to look over someone’s shoulder?

I’m in charge of making my drama group’s script for our short film. And in one scene, I would like to have the camera so it’s looking over someone’s shoulder, down at someone else who is sitting down at a desk. How can I do this? What Camera Direction is it called?

Over the shoulder shot. (OSS or OS, for plain over shoulder.)
