reviews on: CANON EOS 1000D Digital SLR Camera with Canon 18-55 mm EF-S Zoom Lens – 10.1 mp. Quick Please :-)?

February 28, 2010 - 1:06 am 3 Comments

I’m looking to get the CANON EOS 1000D Digital SLR Camera with Canon 18-55 mm EF-S Zoom Lens – 10.1 mp, I only have £400 to spend and this looks like the best camera. Could you review if you have this camera.
Thanks

Here’s a review that hasn’t been given. I own a 1000D and find it a versatile, easy to use, very well built camera that yields superb photos.

I use three lenses with mine, the kit at 18-55, a Tamron 18-200 and a Canon 75-300.

Further review is here. Read my notes please because not all of these were taken with my Canon.
Be aware I’m having excellent luck with night / time exposures, day time colors are brilliant and the camera is very easy and quick to operate – but, you’ve got to read the book and keep it handy for little questions that always seem to come up.

The first 3 shots I took with my Fuji 9000. Good Luck

What’s the best point ‘n click compact & FAST digital camera for a photo enthusiast but not a professional?

February 19, 2010 - 4:15 pm 7 Comments

I’ve long been a fan of Canon’s PowerShot series. I currently have the PowerShot S50, but it’s too bulky, too slow, and I don’t need all the manual settings. I used to have the Digital Elph s100 and loved it. I take a lot of pictures, but don’t care about manual settings.

Most important factors (in order):
1) Image quality on screen AND in print (I’m an avid Kodak EasyShare Gallery user).
2) Speed to snapping picture.
3) Compactness.

Cameras I’m considering:
- Canon PowerShot SD600
- Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T9
- Kodak Easyshare One (built-in WiFi)

Good resources:

What do you think I should get?

Thanks!

be sure to check out the HP low end line. A lot of them have all the features of a high end camera with slight drawbacks.
example: Macro will only focus at 4 inches or more, no real close shots… for me, no problem.
The HP warranty is super also with 24/7 free phone help.

What is a good cheap digital camera to buy?

February 17, 2010 - 7:36 pm 5 Comments

I need to find a new digital camera that has a printer dock if possible and takes good pictures and videos. Right now I have a Kodak CX7300 and have read some bad reviews on kodak cameras and their lack of help online. so anyone out there know of any good ones?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Printer docks are something you can buy separately and if the camera is cheap enough it ain’t a big deal. The Canon Powershot and Nikon Coolpix are both good choices. Here are some good solid deals, several including a bunch of extra things: http://www.cameta.com/index.cfm?fa=display.search&page=1&refine=y&Category=Point%20and%20Shoot%20Digital%20Cameras&Price=%24250%20and%20%20%24500

digital camera?

February 15, 2010 - 8:09 pm 6 Comments

I’m looking to buy a digital camera with at least 12MP, no less. I’ve been looking at the Kodak EasyShare V1233 and the Nikon Coolpix P5100. The kodak seems to be getting a lot of bad reviews on Google sites. What is your opinion?
no, i want my pictures to be crystal clear.

my opinion is 12mp point and shoots should be 8mp so the little sensors they have dont generate as much noise

a

EDIT: for sharp images you need a sharp lens, so look at lens quality first, megapixels only matter if you wish to crop your images alot or do big prints.

dont get conned into more megapixels means better pictures….if the lens is soft you will just get more mega pixels of softness……

Casio 6MP Exilim EX-Z60 Digital Camera reviews?

February 11, 2010 - 8:55 am 1 Comment

Does anyone own a Casio Exilim Z60 and would like to give an honest review? I am thinking of purchasing one and I wold like to research up on it first. So please leave your review here for me. Thanks.

I do not own that particular Casio model, however, I used to own a Casio camera before, and I’ll tell you, Casio makes crap sensors. (I returned my Casio camera because of its terribly image quality) Their sensors have pretty bad noise performance. However, if you always take pictures under bright sunlight, this camera just might work. If you read an average consumer’s review, they’ll tell you that they love their camera, that’s because they have no clue about image quality.

A good quality digital camera that takes good pictures in day/night??

January 21, 2010 - 4:29 pm 2 Comments

I experienced a few cameras but the quality doesn’t satisfy me. I want a digital camera that takes good clear pictures in any kind of light. Also i want it to take the same kind of quality pictures in night as well.
I would also like a slim(if possible) , big screen camera to review pics with a few fun tools for the pictures = ) Any of you recommend any good ones? My price range is *under* $300 dollars. Preferably close to $250 dollars or under. Thanks and I hope to receive some good answers.

You may have wait a few years. The only cameras that come close to your requirements are the current DSLR’s and they are true professional cameras … not slim by design.

The small sensors in compact digital cameras will never approach the quality the larger sensors found in DSLR cameras, or the advanced circuitry, or the interchangeable lenses, or the low noise/high ISO qualities that the newer DSLR’s have and of course the cost of those are about 10x what you want to pay … for the body ONLY.

Ask again in about five or so years. Or buy something in your budget, but without all the bells and whistles … for now.

Which is the best digital point and shoot camera to buy currently?

January 16, 2010 - 12:19 pm 1 Comment

Hi, I really need help to buy a digital camera asap. All the online reviews have only further confused me.My requirements are:
1. 7-8 megapixel
2. 3-4 optical zoom
3. LCD screen
4. Good night pictures
5. different shoot modes
6. video (optional)
7. sharp, bright pictures
8. anti shake
9. face detection
10. as compact a body as possible.
I used to have a fancy for sony cybershot models but am told they are not as good as canon or nikon. fuji has also been recommended. A salesman recommended either the fuji F40 or the nikon S500 or the canon IXUS950. Can anyone help please? I have a budget of up to $500 but don’t necessarily have to go all the way so long as I can get a good reliable compact camera that has all the latest features and gives me the best pictures.

I have a canon, and I love it! the only thing it doesn’t have on your list is the IS (anti shake), but there are models that have it. The canon A series is really good, but the ELPHs have a lot of cool features, and are compact. I spent a little over $300 and that included, a canon SD1000, an extra battery, a carrying case, and a ScanDick UltraII 2 GB memory card. Look into it…
