DXG camera video of G15 keyboard

July 6, 2010 - 11:20 pm No Comments

Purchased a new DXG USA DXG-A80V HD DXG Pro Gear 1080p High-Definition Camcorder found here on amazon (http://amzn.to/bjT5tE)
Figured it would be a good idea to post to youtube to see how well the quality goes over. A short review from my point of view. The camera does fairly well focusing considering how close i am holding the camera to the keyboard its self. If you notice the quality go down, that is actually me showing the dual recording feature of it where it will record a lower resolution video and a 1080p 30fps at the same time. To string the video all together and reformat it from its .MOV default file I used Roxio Creator 2009. It had signigant lag which i figured was because of the high quality video and my computers lack of much power. On secound thought it might have potentialy worked better with the software that came with the camera but I diden’t want to trouble shoot because it was not designed for windows 7 and had errors all over the place. However I believe alls you would have to do is set it to windows XP and it would work fine.

Video camera that would take decent video and sound at a local music show?

June 20, 2010 - 3:27 am 3 Comments

My boyfriend plays in a local band and I am getting their youtube page up and going but only have crappy video/sound for the videos I have taken. I know that I can’t find anything spectacular outside of an expensive pro camera for like thousands but I am on a budget. I am not asking for perfect quality video/sound, but decent video and a good enough sound so that the camera mic isn’t overloaded and imossible to hear. Let me know please! Thank you.

There are several problems when doing music videos.

First- sound. Most of the time any video camera will have problems with good sound even very expensive cameras. This is because the sound is always way to loud for the camera. There are several way to solve this problem. One is to turn down the mic input on your camera. Go into your menu settings under audio and adjust it to the most negative it can go. sometimes -20 or -30 db. This will help some. A second alternative if you are editing several cameras together is to put a camera in another room that is not as loud. That camera will get sound only and be used to edit all the video with. If you are not editing with multiple cameras see if your camera can take an audio input such as a microphone. By adding a small audio board or mic that can adjust to the camera you can manipulate the sound coming into the camera so that it wont totally sound like crap.

Second- Video. It sounds like your band is playing in low light situations if they are you will want a camera with the largest video sensor you can find. 1/4" to 1/2′ if possible.

I can tell your budget is small so I am giving you the most cost effective answers I can.

How do I use my video camera or my digital camera as a webcam for chatroulette?

June 17, 2010 - 5:04 am 1 Comment

I have a Sony Handycam (video camera) and a Kodak EasyShare (digital camera)

I want to know how to use one of these as a webcam for chatroulette.
I have tried a few drives but they all either don’t work with my camera or don’t link up with chatroulette.

If someone could give me some advice on this problem that would be very nice.

The article How To Use Your Camera as a Webcam (link below) tells you how. I got their recommended $25 cable and used it to make my Canon PowerShot digital camera and Sony video camera work as webcams on my PC.

What video camera would be good for me?

June 8, 2010 - 4:11 pm 3 Comments

My friend and I are trying to record ourselves singing and playing guitar and also want to make a music video. What kind of video camera would be good for us? I know they can be expensive if we want a good one, but something under $200 would be great!

There are some basic video cameras around that are quite cheap. Check at your local camera store and tell them your budget. They may have cameras that have been traded in but still in good order. Most new cameras use built in disks or flash memory but older cameras that use digital tapes can give a good picture. If you want to make a music video you might need a tripod for the camera, and also download the recording to a computer for editing. Windows already has basic video editing software if you are on a tight budget.
