What is the best brand for digital cameras?
October 30, 2009 - 8:39 am
I am looking for a new slim, compact digital camera that I can carry around with me and easily slip into my pocket. I am still undecided about which brand to get. Does anyone have experience with any good slim, compact cameras?
(Money is no issue)
any Canon Ixus with image stabilization would be perfect for you.
I have the 970IS with 5x zoom and love it, the battery life is amazing.

I have a Canon, although any of the well known camera manufacturers should be a safe bet for a decent one, so you could consider Nikon and Olympus too, for example.
You’ll often see megapixels, megapixels, megapixels repeated like some sort of marketing mantra, particularly with respect to cheaper cameras. It is not the be all and end all. Quality optics and image processing firmware are very important too and for that you have to pay out a little bit more like you do with the quality brands.

if there were a best brand, then there would probably be only 1 company making cameras. shop around a bit, and if i were you i’d stick to nikon canon, and sony for the build quality and reliability.

Yes, I would advise you to have a look at the Canon IXUS range. The design/build quality is usually excellent, and the User Interface very intuitive. Most importantly, performance and picture quality are top-notch. My personal recommendation would be the IXUS 80 IS. You can get it at a very good price from Amazon.

If you want as slim as you can get then it must be a Cybershot T77 at 13.9 mm thick. I have used the prececcesor to this camera the T7 which came in at a still very slim 14.7mm, that was a brilliant camera using top quality materials and workmanship.
Despite being so small and seemingly delicate they still have a very solid feel in hand.

Canon/Nikon
there is not definite answer, though people may say one or the other
I am a canon user, but i will not say they are better than Nikon, because they are both as good as each other. chose a camera from ether range that suits you. also check the lens range that fits the camera.
there are 2 advantages of canon (though i am sure there are some for nikon as well):
CMOS censor
Larger lens range
