Sony shows a prototype compact camera with interchangeable lens

YOKOHAMA, JAPAN (03/11/2010) — Sony’s prototype compact camera with an interchangeable lens, the unreleased Alpha-series model that was first shown last month at California’s PMA show, was presented in Japan on Thursday but the company still isn’t disclosing much about the device. The camera is aimed at people who want a little more creativity than a fixed-lens compact camera allows but who don’t want to carry a larger and bulkier digital SLR camera.

radioactive camera lens (thorium 232)

this lovely ancient super 8 camera contains a lens that was made partly out of the radioactive element thorium.

by adding thorium to the lens glass, a high refractive index could be achieved while maintaining a low dispersion. thus, radioactive camera lenses used to be state-of-the-art in high-demand photography.
