Sony’s “tough” camera; Will it Blend? phht, probably, those Blendtec Blenders are STUPID evil, but Will Sony’s little “tough” point and shoot happy snapper survive the torture test of Blunty? A man KNOWN to not just void warranties, but violate them with the thick end of a baseball bat… lets see.

Blunty3000 puts the SONY Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 camera he was offered for review, through it’s hoops to see if it really IS as tough as sony have been telling people… by giving it several Drop tests, submersion in water, freezing it solid and setting it on fire*

Oh, and in case you were wondering, the time-lapse footage was shot on my iPhone 3GS using the ReelMoments app, and I had it mounted to the tripod using my OWLE Bubo (reviewed here; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWjp5UeVxuE )

*note; Sony don’t actually claim that it’s fire-proof… at all… but it felt like a fun idea heh.

There IS a workaround if you happen to have an iPhone. You’ll need two apps in order to make this work. One is free, the other is ninety-nine cents. The apps are called Camera-A and Camera-B. April 20 (Bloomberg) — Apple Inc.s next iPhone will feature a front-facing camera, metallic rim and boxier design, according to technology blog site Gizmodo.com, which said it obtained a prototype a company engineer had left at a bar in Redwood City, California. Gizmodo paid $5,000 for the device, disguised as the current 3GS model. Bloomberg’s Deirdre Bolton reports. (Source: Bloomberg)

This is an easy and fast tutorial on how to disable iTunes and the digital camera notification (little pop up that asks how to open you iPhone/iPod pictures) from automatically opening when you plug in your iPhone or iPod touch to your computer.

To disable the digital camera notification:
Open up control panel
Go to “Scanners and Cameras”
Right click your device
Click “properties”
Go to the “events” tab
Click “Select No Action”
Apply and click OK

To disable iTunes from automatically opening:
Open up “Preferences” in the “edit” menu
Switch to the “Devices” tab
Uncheck (if checked) “Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically”
Go to your device menu and go to the “Summary” tab
Scroll down and make sure “Open iTunes when this iPod [or iPhone] is connected” is NOT checked
